Weaving Natural Medicines Into Practice

Friday July 12, 2019 ~ 8am-4pm in Vancouver WA

You are working hard to stabilize your patient / client on medication. Then they happen to mention that they have also been taking supplements and/or herbs. Because they believe in natural remedies, they are adamant they will stay on them despite what you say. A literature search usually produces just a few case studies that rarely fit your client’s situation.

Or sometimes no matter what you do, they do not tolerate medications or suffer stubborn side effects.

So what do you do?

I have a solution: an ANCC-approved 6-hr. course called Weaving Natural Medicines Into Practice. Sign up here: https://www.acutecareed.com/events/integrating-natural-medicines-20190712/ From my 3+ decades of experience with challenging patients, I will teach you safe ways to blend natural and conventional medications to manage symptoms of a spectrum of psychiatric disorders, frequently helping some non-psychiatric health challenges along the way. For example, one of my middle-aged patients with severe bipolar disorder no longer has GI reflux after working with natural medicines. This translates into a greater willingness to take medications that used to cause reflux and nausea.

As a bonus, in the last hour you will learn yoga techniques specialized for specific mental health disorders.

I’ll teach the course in Vancouver WA on Friday July 12, 2019. If you do not live in the area, this is an opportunity to start off an enjoyable weekend in beautiful Portland, with its plentiful music and art events, restaurants, and shopping. And Vancouver has been reinventing itself as a tourist destination. See https://www.visitvancouverusa.com/things-to-do/.

Sign up here: https://www.acutecareed.com/events/integrating-natural-medicines-20190712/. This event is sponsored by Acute Care Education. If this course fits your learning goals, I look forward to seeing you there.

Calming Anxiety: Personal Peace
Through Mantra, Mudra, and Breath

Friday September 6, 2019 ~ from 9 am to 4 pm at Phinney Center in Seattle.

We live in a time of exceptionally stressful events. Anxiety can spread to every area of our lives, affecting relationships, health, and spiritual connections. Even health care providers are struggling because their work or lives are so stressful that relaxation does not come easily.

I designed this workshop specifically to address the issues which sabotage your everyday health and well-being. In this workshop you will acquire tools to support and expand your capacity for happiness.

This workshop is an expansion of a well-received class I taught several months ago at the October Oregon Holistic Nurses Association Conference.

Workshop attendee feedback has been very positive:

~ [I love] that we got to DO the tools and feel the way they work. But I also love that Kathy went through the science first.

~ I can use these tools for my own anxiety, I feel hopeful, and inspired.

~ Kathy was incredible! ...Loved her practical and easy tools.

Some of the topics we’ll cover are:

  • Tools and practices to relieve anxiety for yourself and/or your clients.
  • A solid scientific grounding in how the body creates anxiety and how you can manage it.
  • A road into a profound spiritual connection so you feel grounded and loved no matter what.

I’ve used these practices for several decades, both personally and with clients and can’t imagine life without them. I would love the opportunity to share them with you.

Notice and disclaimer:
This workshop is not intended as a treatment for acute mental health disorders.

Your Voice Is Your Medicine

Saturday September 7, 2019 ~ from 9 am to 4 pm at Phinney Center in Seattle

For thousands of years, all cultures have used music and sound to heal painful moods, find solutions to problems, and connect with Universal Love. One of the most potent tools is the human voice.

At this workshop I’m going to share simple but powerful ways to use voice and music to help you to:
• Reduce pain
• Calm stress and anxiety
• Boost focus and productivity
• Increase happiness and inner peace
• Feel more centered, grounded and safe in your body
• Strengthen your healthy response to negative energy.

Musical skill is not necessary.

Here's what prior participants have to say about this workshop:

Superb ... We want her back!
- CAIET conference participant

I attended a sound workshop that she did in
Toronto - it was quite remarkable.
- Rena G.

She is a wealth of knowledge regarding the use of sound as used for healing, both for oneself and for others.
- Cordy Anderson, RN BSN QTTT
